eye makeup

08Jul08

i dont understand. when i was in primary and secondary school, the two subjects i was unbelievably horrible at was Chinese and Art.

yes i am those kind fail Art one. damn useless HAHA. i just dont have the talent okay? i cant draw. my friend couldnt even use my drawings to submit as her own ABSTRACT work. i cant even doodle when i’m bored, i just end up writing lyrics on napkins and lecture notes.

not that i want to brag, but i am, however, fantastic with eye makeup.

warning: EXTREMELY girly post ahead that is ALL about eye makeup.

i’m not talking about those boring eye makeup that is suitable to go to the office in or for a nice alfresco lunch. i’m talking about full on smokey eyes and intense colours and the blending of 2 to 3 shades.

so i decided i shall feature my fantastic skills here from now on, because they often get neglected! i have full on eye makeup that takes about 30 minutes to perfect everytime i go out at night and no one gets to see how glorious they are because it’s always too dark to see. nobody appreciates my art!

last week i got to use denise’s teal MAC shadestick, together with my potted teal and grey eyeshadow from The MakeUp Store. the results were FANTASTIC. the shadestick’s unbelievably INTENSE. i am so in love with it, but i cant justify the price with the frequency of usage. i’m more of a dark smoky eye person.

i looked like an insane person who ran away from the circus for the twins’ birthday party but whattheheck i have pretty eye makeup.

here’s me trying to eat a dead fish (yes i know my cheek bones are weird from this angle). i got sick of looking like i am not wearing eye makeup when i open my eyes or when i smile, so i got bolder with the colours and made sure it stood out even when my eyes were wide open.

it’s more difficult to do so than to only apply at the area where your eyelids fold, because you gotta make sure it blends into the next colour (grey) properly or into your skin tone nicely, not like one bloody sharp streak of colour.

also used Bloom’s black liquid eyeliner and Clinique’s Autoliner in Dark Chocolate. usually i’ll add in a highlighter at the brow bone but i forgot to bring it.

nothing on the lips. i was lazy and we were gonna start eating anyway.

MAC Blush in Springsheen and a little of Denise’s MAC Peachykeen. i’m still working with blushes so it’s not as perfect as my eye makeup. and i am still trying to tie in the perfect combination for the entire face- eye, cheeks and lips.

i did not use any foundation. in fact, i dont own any. foundation is horrible for your skin! use a dermatologically safe concealor! besides, foundation gives a very fake powdery beige look that is gross upclose. i use a bit of Clinique’s eyecorrector as a light concealor for blemishes and that’s it. it doesnt give good coverage but it’s very safe for skin. and for oily skin, STAY FAR FAR AWAY from MAC’s concealers.

if you have horrible skin and you swear by your foundation, please do yourself a favour and see a GP/dermatologist. dont buy those crap from pharmacies or commercial beauty products!

my next addition to my makeup collection shall be a Shadestick! can’t wait!

and yes, you can hire me to do your makeup for you. =)
