ten reasons why i like you
i wrote this one day before my social psychology exam. all experiments and theories came from a chapter called Interpersonal Attraction. i figured theories can be romanticized. or vice versa.
ten reasons why i like you.1) because you are near. (propinquity effect, festinger’s housing complex experiment, mere exposure effect)
2) because you are similar (similarity = validation. being similar causes people to be in the same social situation. difference in opinions causes repulsion. describe roommates experiment)
3) because you are physically attractive (even infants can differentiate what is attractiveness. cross cultural: beauty is similiar across cultures. give examples)
4) because you are funny (Aron and Farley’s experiment: charades vs talk about tv commericial)
5) because you like me (reciprocal liking. experiment: when women show interest, subjects like them more than control condition)
6) because i tell you i like you (reciprocal liking. then you damn self-fulfilling prophecy.)
7) because you communicate like me (experiment: highly skilled communicators vs low skill. if not you frustrate me)
because you look like me (experiment: mathematically created faces of yourself is liked more.)
9) because if you are physically attractive you are also good (implicit personality theory)
10) because you help me do something (ben franklin effect)
